Mon-Dak openers await MCC hoop teams
Both championship games at the Mon-Dak Preseason basketball tournaments had the same opponents, with the same result. Both Miles Community College basketball teams would like to get that loss back this weekend, when they start Mon-Dak Conference play this weekend at Lake Region State. The Lady Pioneers are 7-2 overall, and have won three of four games since their encounter with Lake Region. The Pioneer men are 7-1, winning all three games since their loss to the Royals at the Centra. MCC will also face North Dakota State College of Science on Sunday during their road trip.
Three Pirates make 6-player All-State list
In their first season playing Montana 6-player football, the Hysham Pirates won the Eastern Division and made it to the playoffs. Three of the Pirates have made the 6-player All-State list -- and one of them nets two spots. Kyle Stricklin was named both to the second-team offense and second-team defense; Nick Icopini, second team defense, and Matt Icopini honorable mention offense. Custer-Melstone also had three players on the list, while Rosebud's Matt Ashley was named to the honorable mention defense list.
