Tonight's game with Minot State-Bottineau will be available online ONLY. Click on the Classic Country KMTA link to listen.

Tonight, the Miles Community College women's basketball team looks to move closer to the top of the Mon-Dak Conference standings, if they can knock off the Minot State-Bottineau Lady Jacks.

MSU-Bottineau (7-4 overall, 3-1 Mon-Dak) nearly won against Lake Region in their first conference loss of the season. They're led by Mackenzie Norr, who is averaging 14.5 points per game, one of four Lady Jacks averaging double figures in scoring. Kris Wells (12.2 ppg), Shalice Tommerup (11.9) and Jarette Groninger (11.1) also score in double figures for MSU-B, who averages 71 points per game, while allowing 60 a contest.

For the Lady Pioneers, Ashley Oliver leads a balanced scoring attack with 10.5 points per game. While Oliver is the only player averaging in double figures for MCC, the balance in the lineup is evident -- Marta Micula (9.8 points, 8.4 rebounds per game) and Sarah McNamee (9.5 points per game) help support Oliver's effort from the starters, while Stephanie Dana (7.4 points per game) provides a scoring spark off the bench.

Two keys tonight -- defense and rebounding. While the Lady Pioneers average just 60 points a game, they hold opponents to just 48 a contest. And the big problem Bottineau has this season is rebounding ... getting beaten off the glass by about six per game.

Oliver, Dana lead Lady Pioneers to Mon-Dak preseason win

Glendive -- Ashley Oliver brings a great energy to the court when she plays basketball. Or watches volleyball matches. Or does anything.

In the Mon-Dak Women' Basketball Conference Pre-season Tournament opener for Miles Community College on Thursday night here at Dawson Community College, Oliver brought it once again.

Oliver, nicknamed "AO" by her teammaes, led three Lady Pioneers in double figures with 13 points as MCC beat Minot State-Bottineau, 63-51.

Stephanie Dana had a solid evening as well, scoring 11 points, while fellow freshman Jenna Bolstad added 10 points for the Lady Pioneers, who won their third straight game to start the 2006-07 season.

The Lady Pioneers will play Williston State, a 80-57 winner over Dawson Community College, in a semifinal game tonight at 6.
