Bottneau, Northwest swept

The Miles Community College volleyball team continues to make 2006 a season to remember.

Thanks to a pair of three-game sweeps last week, the Lady Pioneers have moved their overall record to 16-9 overall. In addition, they have won nine of their last 10 matches, and have won their last two Mon-Dak Conference battles to even that slate for the season at 2-2.

Saturday's three-game broom of Minot State-Bottineau included a season-high 15 service aces, which contributed to the 30-10, 30-15, 30-14 win. So did a .296 hitting percentage and nine total blocks.

Amy Bolen's 11 kills, Melissa Green's 22 assists and Lea Stringfellow's 18 digs paced MCC, who will play at the University of Great Falls JV on Wednesday in a doubleheader.
