Eleven Cowboys head to State Wrestling Tournament

The Miles City Cowboys had four wrestlers place at the All-Class State Wrestling Tournament in Billings over the weekend, while finishing ninth in the team standings in Class A. Derick Singleton beat teammate Kylan Zumph to take third place at 105 pounds, Brooks Kmetz finished off a solid tournament by winning his third-place match, and Zac Brockway finished sixth at heavyweight.

Sidney won its fourth straight Class A title, and eighth under head coach Guy Melby. The Eagles had six champions -- all six were ranked No. 1 going into the tournament.

Glendive's Joe Carlson won the title at 125 pounds, while two other Eastern A wrestlers in the finals ended up second -- Laurel's Wily Fife at 135 pounds, and Hardin's Josh Hyde at 140.

Conrad won its fourth straight Class B-C crown, holding off Huntley Project to get the title. Brendan DeCook won the title at 171 pounds for the Red Devils, while two other Project grapplers took second -- Tim Troutman (135) and Justin Bloom (215). Baker heavyweight Brian Hastig also won gold, while SHepherd's Tyler Gilfeather (140) and Shayne Saules (160), and Broadus' Witt Williams (145) came up just short in the finals.
